Here are some pictures of my favourite shop in Budapest. It was called the Pipatorium and was a tiny hole in the wall shop. The owner had managed to cram a lot of pipes and tobaccos into a 6X10 foot shop space.

Here is a pic of the owner. Though he spoke no English we were able to communicate. I bought a Hungarian made pipe from him and several pouches of tobacco that he had from Hungary as well.

Very cool little shop! The owner looks like he made the most of the very limited space he has. BTW, how was the Hungarian tobacco?

The 2 Stanislaw pouches were actually very good - a Balkan and an English blend. Cool and flavourful smokes. The Oebester was a German one that was not bad, there are better English out there. The Clan remains untouched at the moment. The Reiner Vaper is in the cellar waiting for a special day.

The pipe is really a nice smoker. It is a filter pipe with a nine mil filter. Smokes well with and without it. I smoked it a lot in Hungary but not so much since. Maybe today.

Does anyone stateside carry the Stanislaw blends?

Nice shop. Are those pine cones floating over the counter? I'd like to hear about the Clan once you've given it a try.

Yup pine cones indeed. Not sure why.

I don't know if anyone sells Stanislaw here.

Seems like Budapest is the place to find pipe shops... :) !! Nice grabs...always love having the "local" tobacco, so to speak.

A fine looking little shop! May have to take pictures of the places I stop while overseas.

Good stuff Steve! I wonder if the pine cones are there to "liven the place up a bit"...the shop owner looks absolutely giddy that his photo is being taken...

Mark, as far as I know, there is no one here Stateside that carries Stanislaw brands. I was a very avid smoker of their aromatic blends when I was living in Prague (my favorites were their Irish Whiskey and French Cognac blends). I'll keep an eye out for anyone heading back here from Prague, and I'll ask them to bring me some packets of Stanislaw. Let me know if you're interested and I'll keep you posted when I get a positive answer from someone.

Interesting post Steve, thank you. Curious how the local stuff is packaged with English names. Bit spooky to have a Messerschmitt on the Balkan blend!

Fascinating. What brands of pipes did he carry?

...The Clan remains untouched at the moment...
Put it in a small display case and hang a sign on it that says, "In case of vampires, break glass."

Thanks for sharing this, Steve. Sounds like you had a grand time.

Cool pics Steve! I see he has some tobacco leaves hanging to cure.
