After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

I am just now putting 2 and 2 together from Anthony's mention of Ed's passing yesterday. I never had any interaction with Ed personally, but I had seen his posts for years on various forums. He was always a gentleman, and I'm truly sorry to hear of his death.

It might be rude to say but I hope that his passing was quick and painless. That's what I hope for myself and all of my friends.

As some of you may know, Ed was an original member (back to 2008), and one of the admins of the Dr. Grabow Collectors Forum: http://drgrabows.myfreeforum.org/ After the tragic news was initially known, I spoke with Ed's brother a number of times. One of the topics was our desire (at the DGCF) to have a memorial plaque made up to honor Ed's memory. We talked about what the plaque should look like and what it would say...his brother was touched...and he gladly 'signed off' on the content. The plaque below was made by a local company here in Greenville, SC, was subsequently shipped to the Dr. Grabow factory in Sparta, NC (one of "Ed's favorite places in the world", per his brother), where it is now proudly displayed on their walls.
