Kicked off the day a bit late, with Lane's Crown Achievement in the Peterson POY '09.

Smoking some of the stoved Erinmore Flake this morning in a Stanwell.

I'm starting to note some differences. I'll try to convey those differences as I get more accustomed to it.

An earlier bowl of the perfect blend in the Savinelli Virginia No.305 to compliment the lovely sunny ☀️ day that it's been today.

I really love this sweet grassy Virginia which is so easy to smoke with minimal fuss and that can be thoroughly enjoyed without much thinking involved.

I still have yet to try that one. I have a tin in my cellar so it will have some good age once I get to it. I'm glad to hear you're liking it though. Have you tried FVF? How does Golden Glow compare?

Dunhill Flake in the Ropp Smooth Brown 80 bulldog. This pipe is an item from the St. Claude trove of 'rediscovered' stock from the 80s and even earlier. While visiting St. Claude, Sykes Wilford purchased them for smokingpipes to sell. I have six or seven, some turned from Algerian briar in the 50s or earlier and finished many years later. Each of them a fine value, imo.

I've not had a lot of FVF and none recently in order to comment in too much detail, so will compare when I next have a bowl, but from memory Golden Glow is mellower and more of an all day smoke.

    Hello,

From tomorrow, 18 July till Tuesday 1 August, I'm on a trip to the UK. Will spend ten days in Durham, south of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and then travel on to spend several days with Jim.

I have WIFI at the Bed and Breakfast place, and will visit the forums from time to time.

Spent the day preparing for the trip and getting my flat into a state that it won't shock me when I return back home. Made sure to get a few pipes in between, and now the last one for the day is G&H Best Brown No 2 in a Charatan Grosvenor billiard.

    Best wishes
    Markus
