    BBB Bent Billiard c.1920

This BBB bent billiard doesn't have the usual Birmingham hallmarks or date letter. Instead, it's simply marked "BBB" with "AFC" in fancy script, so I'm guessing it's an American-made BBB from the College Point, Long Island factory, made sometime between 1914 and the early 1920s.

The cross-grain has some nice birdseye and the pipe overall is simply pristine, having been smoked only a few times. I thought the rim might have been topped because the edges are so sharp, but I don't see any evidence of that having been done. There are barely any "handling marks," either. It must have been smoked a few times, stored in a safe place and forgotten.

Now that's a historical BBB fer sure. And in such great condition, too!

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Neat pipe Wes. The bowl proportions look right, i.e. not topped, to my eye...

Thanks. Anthony/Piffyr did some great research on the College Point factory and posted it on another forum. That's what makes me think it's probably an American BBB. You can find that thread by searching for "BBB Umbria Restoration" (you'll get a result for this forum as well).

Thanks! I think you're right. It had that sickly sweet "old" smell to it, which indicates it hasn't been smoked for a LONG time. If anyone had bothered to top it, I imagine they would have cleaned it out a little, too, but there was a bit of tar and tobacco residue in it still.
