Thanks for that Jim! York looks a lovely place as well as Whitby, we have a full day in Scarborough as well as being based there so should be plenty for us to see and do, Tickets arrived in the post this morning so we're leaving Edinburgh bus station on the 9th October at 10.35am and expect to get to Scarborough at around 5pm with a couple of stops, returning home on the 13th, I'll try and find out as soon as possible what day we come to York and I'll send you a text message so that we can hopefully arrange a meet.

During our last trip to Yorkshire we went to see Nora Batty but they'd turned her house into a caf. Holmfirth, a bit touristy but very photogenic.

Blimey! Crawford was keen, seems like a long way to go to catch a glimpse of old Nora Batty & her wrinkled stockings! Lol
Sounds like a nice little trip ally. I've not been to Whitby, but York is something special & Scarboroughs lovely. Nice spot to have a bowl is Scarborough castle. The last place in Britain to come under naval attack, during the First World War. There's a lovely old fashioned ice cream & coffee bar on the front as well. Run by an extremely pretty gang of young Yorkshire lasses, all in tight fitting yellow pinnies. Not that I was taking too much notice. Lol Then there's the black swan tobacconists, that'll be worth a look. Don't know what the birds look like in there though, as I've only bought online from them. Hope you have a good trip! Oh, & don't forget to sample a pint of Timothy Taylor's landlord'.
    St. Bruno simply satisfies!

Irwin Bielby, the chap in this video lived just down the road from me in the same village as my step-daughter. Small world eh.
You'll have a good time Ally, I spend a lot of my life working around the Whitby, Scarborough and North York Moors area.
    Regards,

    Nigel
