Lest we forget. In Australia remembrance day this year was especially important as it was also the centenary of the battle of bersheeba. The last cavalry charge in the history of warfare. This battle involved the Australian light horse and Turkish infantry. Many of the Australian horsemen came from our district and yesterday my daughter and myself went to see a reenactment at the local showground.
The horses used are an Australian breed known as walers and are still bred today. Mainly they are a saddle horse but a large enough to also be used as pack horses or even put into harness if required.
