    My Latest Stanwell Acquisitions

Here are the latest additions to my Stanwell collection.
From left to right, they are:

    No. 42, Reg.No., Hand Made
    No. 15 05, Reg.No., Hand Made, "S" only
No. 89, Reg.No., Hand Made, Selected Briar
    No. 186, Royal Silver
    No. 81, Reg.No., Hand Made
    No. 169, Jubilæum 1942-92
    No. 89R, Sailor
    No. 04M, Royal Danish

Nos. 42 and 89 are unsmoked, but as can be seen, the rest of them need a hefty dose of TLC.

Great pipes Jesper. One almost never sees that shape 15 with the original stem!

Thanks, Dave. It's the first time that I have ever seen one. Unfortunately it has a tiny hairline crack in the shank but I think that a repair ring will ruin its looks, so I'll just smoke it very carefully. The stem still sits nice and tight and I paid only $20, so...

If bad comes to worse, I can ship it off to a pipe wizard I know. He just fixed two maltreated Brakners I bought and when I got them back, they looked just like the day they left Peter Brakner's workshop.

Thanks, Hawky. I bought them all except the Churchwarden together with eight other pipes and I've searched for the Jess Chonowitsch (169) since I started collecting Stanwells last March. No luck until now; there it was among the other ones.

What a haul, Jesper! I like them all. Is the churchwarden a Hans Christian Andersen?
    Russ

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Thanks, Russ. No, the Churchwarden dates back to the early -/midfifties, hence the 'S'. The crowned 'S' wasn't introduced until november 1957.
It does look very similar to the HCA No. 1, which was introduced in the bicentennial of his birth, 2005, that is. The year is just a wild guess on my part though.

I have read a lot by and about Hans Christian Andersen but I have never come across the information that he smoked a pipe.

Those are all great additions to your collection, Jesper! Congrats! The 15 is really the star of the show in my opinion. If it were mine, I'd have it repaired sooner rather than later.

Thanks, Anthony. I do think that I shall have no. 15 repaired by the abovementioned wizard. He can probably fix it without adding a ring.
While I am at it, I might ship the 169 Chonowitsch off as well. The stem is utterly stuck and I suspect that it is broken and glued on since the freezer trick did not work. I do not trust my renovation skills enough yet and I shall probably ruin it, I fear.
It is in real bad shape, I am afraid.
