I know. I have kept four Stanwell's: two are early Sixten Ivarsson designs including this, the third is a Tom Eltang design and the fourth an Anne Julie design. All four are very nice.

This one has the crown over the S, is a Regd Number pipe and also labelled hand made.

I am very, very fond of Stanwells; in fact so much that I collect them and I am extremely curious.
May I ask what shape numbers they are..?

The one Stanwell in my collection I like the most. Another great Sixten Ivarsson design from the '50s, shape 39, loaded with My Own Blend's Kentucky.

Gonna cob this C&D Dreams of Kadath for the first smoke, until I get a better sense of its paranormal characteristics.

Oi... Another beautiful Stanwell; very elegant and I have a soft spot for spigots of which I only own a couple of Petersons.
I do think that silver spigots look their finest on black sandblasts.

Thank you, Jesper. It was my first estate pipe when I bought it about four years ago and I was immediately drawn to it for the for the same way that you described and is a terrific smoker. I think that it might be time to polish the silver!

Good Evening, Gentlemen! I went out to the grocery store earlier and it was a battle just getting the ice off of the windshield and freeing up the driver's side window. All is well now that I'm in the igloo for more pipe and coffee time. Now smoking a good bowl of DF that's performing wonderfully in the Stanwell blasted billiard.
