    Hello and happy New Year,

It's the last out of twelve days away from work and I'm spending it the way I've spent most of them. Sitting in the shed and smoking a pipe, right now a mix of G&H Best Brown Flake and Brown Twist in an Upshall Tilshead pot. It's ten degrees Celsius outside or 50F, and recent days have been even milder, but windy with rain.

For the fireworks, we had a dry spell in the hours around midnight, but we got plenty of rain before that. We only watch others blow up their money anyway, and at 1 a.m. German time I watched the fireworks in London on TV. Otherwise it was a quiet night between watching TV and browsing the web. For dinner, we all sat down in my sister's kitchen and cooked our food together on a hot stone in the middle of the table.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Another nice breakfast of toasted Panera bagel and Costa Rica Cartago coffee from Cafe Britt, followed by a bowl of McClelland's Balkan Beauty in the Savinelli Hercules 114 EX, a very large lovat that is probably a Gp. 7 if there be such a thing.

je ne suis pas un fumeur de pipe.

My first smoke of 2018 was the usual Sayri twist around 00.45 just after the wife left to take the mother in law home.

A trip back to Scotland via Spain this September is on the cards so I plan on purchasing plenty of Condor and St Bruno which aren't available here.....probably a new pipe or two as well.

Good Afternoon, Friends! Out in the igloo again and bundled up in the blanket as the kero heater sputters away. I watched the second half of the Everton vs Manchester United match on TV earlier with United dominating, scoring two excellent goals and winning 2-0. Rockbass mentioned having to hone his plug knife and that reminded me of how my latest knife sharpening assignment went today. The darling wife had set aside two knives for me to work on and I put them on the kitchen table along with the sharpening stone. Before I could get to them, she washed them off and thanked me for sharpening them even though I didn't touch them at all! Now smoking a bowl of BBF in the Sav smooth billiard, staying hydrated with water on the side.

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

It was a good match, Everton played very well in the first half, but United came alive in the second. There was no stopping those two goals!

Top of the year to you, fellas. Craving something sweet and Peterson Hyde Park has my favourite sweet of all--maple. Smoking it in a Boswell Churchwarden. Don't see many Boswells or churchwardens around here. It's my only Boswell and my only churchwarden and I picked it up very early in my pipe smoking career. It's a fine smoking pipe but tastes do change. I'll leave it at that.

Don't give up on the churchwardens till you've had one in the bath mucker!
Hot water & a strong tobacco make for a luxurious experience. Better than any spa treatment or therapy known to man!
Mark my words, it'll take years off you! If it doesn't, you're doing it wrong.
    St. Bruno simply satisfies!
