As usual, based on your weather forecast, I'm going out for another cart of wood.

Good Afternoon, Friends! I finally had to light off the kero heater as the temperature is dropping down to freezing and the workshop roof is being pelted with sleet. I was thinking (yes, I sometimes do that) about how estate pipe descriptions used to consist of words like "pocket wear". In an effort to be more precise for on-line buyers, that quaint phrase has been replaced with "small scratches around the bowl". And, of course, there's the slippery term "toothmarks" that's as elastic as Silly Putty. I've seen the description used for everything from a chewed up bit to a small indent. Then we have my personal favorite, "needs cleaning". That one covers a lot of real estate as well from just needing an alcohol treatment to a full restoration. Which bring me to my point: How do you think that some of your pipes would be described after being sold to a dealer? "Bowl slightly uneven from over-reaming" perhaps? Or maybe "scorch marks on the rim"? Wot? Wot? I was bloody careful with that pipe! Oh, how one pipe smoker's treasure can be turned into a reseller's "fair condition". I don't want to think about it anymore. Now finishing up a bowl of FVF in the Don Carlos that has pocket wear.

Dunhill Flake in a GBD apple after first smoking it in a cob. Good in the cob,
    better in the GBD.
It's gone from 53/11.7 when I got up, to 23/-5 at the moment.

Good Evening, Gentlemen! The cold front is continuing to sweep in with gusty winds, icy surfaces, and a couple of inches of snow on the way. Like Rockbass mentioned, the temperature here in NE Ohio just dropped like a rock throughout the day. Amazingly, the kero heater is behaving and actually keeping the place warm! It's still a POS, though. Now finishing up a bowl of FVF in the Don Carlos with DDF up next, a partial mug of coffee on the side. The other part is on the floor.
