    Danish stack, got one!

Well, the greed & the gluttony continues into the new year! Shameless & wanton I know, but I've given up abstaining from lusting after pipes. Besides, been after a Danish made stack for ages now.

That looks like a Brakner to me. What's with the stem, is it just oxidized or a replacement? Is there a green dot?

That one should keep ya smoking for quite a while, Simon. Congrats!

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Your looks don't deceive you Dave, yes it's a brakner. I'd never seen or heard of them until a recent post of yours. You'd included some old catalogs from stanwell & larsens. Then I saw Jesper say his best smokers were brakners, so I went on a mission to find one. As regards the stem, I don't know I'm afraid. I only won the auction last night & it's got to make its way to me from Nova Scotia, so it'll be awhile till I see it. It looks like a pipe that's been put away for years, caked up & oxidised. It wasn't until after I bid & went back to your catalog to see the pipe. I suspect it could well be a replacement stem, which is a shame but with the bowl being 2&1/4" deep should provide a nice long smoke.

The cut of the stem in the pictures does make me think it's original... Also, not all of the stems had the green dot inlay, I believe.

Once again the Danes prove that they have been and still are some of the best pipe makers par- none..
