Entries in bold are my additions. Please do not ban me from this excellent forum, should they be proven wrong.

Stanwell recycled some of their earlier shape numbers; for instance, the later no. 06 is a far cry from the no. 06 by Sixten Ivarsson.

Excellent work, Jesper! A much needed reference, indeed.

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

I am very glad if you find this useful. I do and use it a lot.
I found the list on a forgotten homepage, nicked it and then
copy-pasted it from the copy on my hard disk.

Thank you all for your appreciations.

Maybe we ought to have Basil Stevens' original list from 2009 as well. I was thinking of merging the two, so we'd have only one list.
It'll take some time, but I'm an OAP, so...

Already on it, Jesper! I've been comparing the list above to both the "original" list (despite the information on Pipedia, this thread predates the RebornPipes post by almost four years and the often referenced Brothers of Briar thread by a year)...

    http://www.stanwell-tabak-pfeife.de/...D-Stevens.html

... and the reordered list posted at the same German forum ...

    http://www.stanwell-tabak-pfeife.de/...-Designer.html

... and it has been interesting. Despite the date on your hard drive copy, the above list doesn't seem to have been originally published in 2013. The information on the list at the German forum mirrors that in the list above (aside from your own edits) and it was first posted in 2008 and lasted edited in 2009. It also doesn't appear to be an "official" update/revision by Mr. Stevens himself, but rather an attempt by the forum members to organize the shape numbers by designer rather than by number.

Be that as it may, I've listed the differences between the two lists below. I am positive that some of the changes were intentional, but there are more than three times the number of omissions compared to additions/changes. A decade of experience in data verification leads me to suspect that the majority of the differences are data entry errors instead of intentional edits. For that reason, I would choose to give priority to the original list when the two are in dispute.

I tend to trust the Basil Stephen's list as being more, but not in every way complete. For example, shape "50 - Billiard, large size, oval stem and mouthpiece." Where the "Late '50's" catalog shows something quite different,

Also, and I just noticed it, another earlier pipe that used shape 11 (it is in the Basil Stephen's list) so that makes three. I'd love to find one of these! I don't think I've ever seen one in the estate market.

Blimey... That was fast. Nice work indeed.

I cannot for the life of me remember where I found the revised designer list with the date 30-12-2013,
but I didn't invent said date, that I know for certain.
The German homepage states this page as source for the designer list: http://www.aspipes.org/, but I can't find any information about it.

The designer list has actually been posted in the forum by Ron RD McMurphy 21/09/2013 but it didn't occur to me to go search for it before I posted.
