In the hideout again and, so far, the dear wife hasn't said a word about a chore assignment. Today would be a good day to watch a soccer match, but alas, nothing from what I've seen scheduled so far. It is, however, a good day for sitting and smoking me pipe! The temperature is in the low 40s F/4.4sC and the kero heater is keeping the place cozy. Finishing up a bowl of McC Matured VA #22 Flake in the Pete 999, a second mug o' joe on the side.

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

May we all be spared the Fevers of February, for they are raging. So, appropriate to the spirit of that hope, I'm having some Wilke Gramercy in the Stanwell Colonial 45 billiard. Be well.

    Hello,

Another windy and at times wet day is coming to a close, and I'm sitting in the living room. January was several degrees to warm compared to the long term average, so they seemingly want to make up for it with some arctic air coming in next week.

Tomorrow I'm going to Cologne for our monthly meeting at Peter Heinrichs' shop. As I don't have to work, I'll leave home around noon and have lunch at one of the Asian restaurants near the pipe shop. I don't think I'll be too keen to walk about in town a lot, so I may settle down in the smoking lounge after buying some tobacco, and perhaps read a newspaper while waiting for the others to arrive.

My mother is coming home on Saturday to spend a few days at home before the rehab starts on Wednesday. She is doing fine and walking a bit every day, and also started to practice going up and down stairs.

I nearly forgot the most important thing: I'm smoking Rattray's HOTW in a James Upshall sandblasted apple.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Glad to hear your Mom is doing good Markus. Just received some of Rattray's exotic orange smoking it in a little Rattray's Goblin SB99 which is going to be my orange pipe except when I'm watching Celtic. The taste is definitely different will not be smoking this every day but it certainly makes you sit up.

I was certain they were going to be yellow but they are pink which according to the experts on a growing forum makes it Nicotiana Tabacum and not Rustica. Could be a Burley maybe? It'll be the usual Sayri twist for me today.

Coming along nicely Crawford! I didn't know you got pretty flowers from tobacco leaves. That photo begs a question though. How come you haven't got yourself a nice Panama hat! Apart from looking the part for a tobacco farmer, they really do help keeping you & your head cooler. I wouldn't be without mine on a hot day, & I'll bet their cheaper down your way as well. Must grab yourself one mate!

Nice deep bowl of C&D Odessa in my urn stack. Pretty well broken in now. Light it up, and let it lay on my chest.
