I read somewhere that STG offered to buy the rights and the name, but was turned down. I cannot remember where I read it though. Probably just rumours.

I talked to the very knowledgeable people in TDPS, but they knew nothing apart from speculation. They do have a very large stock of all the Dunhill tobaccos, so they told me not to be nervous.

I like "Donehill". To me, it captures the reality of the situation and my mood about it all.

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Thanks, Russ. It'll be a bit sad to see Dunhill tobaccos go as they've been here for so long. We may fear the worst and hope for the best.
Luckily, the two out of the three Capstans are still with us.

Is this just a US thing? In the last newsletter from GQ it said
"A few rumours have been circulating the internet about Dunhill pipe tobaccos being discontinued, I can tell you however that this is hearsay and I spoke to the suppliers today and that there is no plans of them stopping, other than the ready rubbed."
    Regards,

    Nigel

From what I know, it is BAT (British-American Tobacco) that is stopping production as Dunhill wants to get out of the smoking business altogether.

Honestly, Nigel, it's hard to say. Information has been conflicting, even from previously reliable sources. The president of Dunhill's cigar maker/US distributor says that they are exiting the cigar and pipe tobacco market altogether. Dunhill's brand manager at STG Lane confirms only that the blends will not be available in the US. There has been no official statement whatsoever by either Dunhill or BAT to clarify the matter at all and neither appears willing to confirm anything. The entire thing has been oddly cryptic. So, your guess is as good as mine.
