    Some 1920s Dunhills

This is not so much a pipe restoration thread as it is a "some guys have all the luck" thread. The gentleman that owns these pipes (not me) bought them all at a flea market ... for $50 ... total.

    1922 Shell Briar Billiard

    1922 Shell FE

    1924 Bruyere 36

    1927 Bruyere 382

Anybody want to hit up the flea markets with me this weekend?

They should put a mask on that guy and Call him Dick Turpin, beautiful pipes and your usual great restoration work Anthony.

    I can't pick a favourite, I love them all.

I'm partial to the Shell billiard because it has that sort of crude but beautiful blast that's so indicative of Dunhill was doing with the Shells in the early years. You can tell that they were still trying to figure things out. The later blasts were much more controlled. I also like the paneled 382 because ... well,.. look at it!

That's my favorite of the group, too, Anthony because, "well...look at it!" Just a beautiful pipe that has a fine furniture appeal. Great job on the restoration and tell the owner there are some people on both sides of the Atlantic that are very envious.

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

Seriously. That one is no joke...

Thanks, Russ. There are times when I want to make an offer on the pipes that I work on, but that would create a conflict of interest. So, I've resigned myself to the role of the forever bridesmaid.

What a splendid job you've done on them, Anthony, but then again, you always do.

That is a beautiful pipe...The craftsmen, or more accurately Artists, from that era knew their way around a piece of wood. The person who "Stole" those pipes is a very lucky person indeed.
