Thanks to all people who like the pipe. I smoked it yesterday. It is amazing how long it can take to smoke a tiny pipe. Just as long as a normal pipe. And it is so small that my smallest tamper only goes 2/3 of the way down the bowl. It tasted okay some of the time and harsh the remainder. But there is no cake on it yet. What was amazing is how light the pipe is, and how well it hangs between my teeth. So very comfortable to smoke.

I also sent the pipe case off to Martin In Wales (sorry not Northumbria). Martin is very pleasant on the phone. He says the case is made of wood covered with hard cardboard and that is broken. Part of the latch is also broken. And there is a pin missing from one of the hinges. And he would need to make some thin leather to match the old leather and replace what is ripped off and missing.

As a result it might even take as much as a week to repair it! I think he was being apologetic about the long delay.

He also intends to send me detailed pictures of the before and during and after, which I will share here. So keep tuned.
