Here's a pic of 2 vintage planes, the yellow one is mine, the foreground one is an immaculate Fairchild from the mid 1930's.
    Beautiful! Thanks for showing us.
Is yours in the original colours? Seems unusual for the navy.

Yep, standard trainer colors for US Navy were all yellow for visibility. Not for operations planes of course, they were blue sides and top grey bottom.

Ah, trainer colours! Of course, makes sense. I've always wanted a go in a biplane, I'll get there one day. Most of my teenage years were spent in the Air Training Corps. Very happy times! They used to take us up in the de havilland 'chipmunk'.

Chipmunk is a great airplane. I've got a couple Canadian buddies that have chipmunk and Tiger Moths. After a couple hours flying the tiger Moth I told him, "no wonder the Brits won the battle of Britain. If one can do 50 hours in one of these and survive, gotta be a great pilot!"

If you ever get this side of the pond, you're invited in my biplane.

Now smoking GH Balkan Mixture in my reform waisted stack, BTW.

Good evening, folks. Another work week has wound down, during which we were quite short handed due to vacations, and hence I have been quite tired. So after an afternoon nap, I had some Mac Baren HH Burley Flake in a Sav Roma, and now I'm smoking some Symphony in another Roma. I hadn't planned on smoking these pipes specifically, they're just such reliable smokers that I do it without thinking.

I know I've said it before, but Romas are still some of the best values around, IMHO. They have a classy looking rustication (eliminating fills so common to low end Savs these days),they're extremely light and clenchable and are available in any standard shape on Savinelli's chart. The Dublin was one of my first pipes, and the long-stemmed Billiard is a fairly recent purchase. Never regretted buying either one, and would buy more in a heartbeat.

Aye Steve, Ye aircraft be one similar to one I were able to get me wench a barnstormer ride in bout 20 yrs ago... She saw a video of a camera taped to the dash on F-18 and told the pilot she wanted to go fer a ride. I could nae make that happen but, the airport near me olde workhouse ‘ad a banner bout the barnstormer ride so, I got it fer her birthday. She almost chickened out when they put the parachute on ‘er, but once in the air the daredevil came out and she did nae want it to end! They used a P-38 US Navy trainer!

Very smart looking Canadian! With that canted bowl, looks similar to a few French made Canadians that I've seen.

    Good morning everyone.
First smoke of this lazy Sunday morning. Chateau Henri 44, in a barling pot.
