Lane Charatans are English-made Charatans, Jorgen. The pipe I posted a picture of above is a Lane-era pipe. It was post-Lane when the pipes were made in France.

Anthony, I know. But I think its funny how Americans almost take ownership to an English pipe with this words.

Speaking as an American, I really don't think that's the case at all, Jorgen. I certainly view Charatan as a purely British brand (forget that French nonsense) and, through conversation, I know that most of my American, pipe smoking friends do as well. I don't think it's because of any sense of ownership that you see the Lane era mentioned often by American collectors, but rather it's simply because there are far more of them here in the states than pre-Lane pipes.

    Thanks bill & everyone.
No, the satchel I bought separate. A retro clothing company called 'Red Canoe' online from Toronto. Along with an RCAF jersey & a Lancaster bomber T shirt. Pukka stuff! It may be of interest or it may not, but I'll tell you anyway. There's only two Lancaster bombers left, that are still flying. One of them is based in Canada & flies out to different air shows all over the world.

I've seen it fly many times at the Canadian National Ex - magnificent sight and because it's an air show it flies quite low so your chest vibrates with its' power. (My son has the army version of that satchel).

    Hello Simon!

    Congratulations on your new pipe.
I had this one in my cart & saw on this everyday, hesitatingly, as you did 2 years ago

Anyway, the pipe looks beautiful. I trust, this pipe will be a great addition to your good pipe collection
    Best regards,
    Arvind.

We've both seen & 'felt' the same plane then. I was at RAF fairford a few years ago, where it flew in along with a spitfire & hurricane. Even more spectacular was the Vulcan, unbelievable sight! The earth was vibrating when that flew around.
