Bjarne, asymmetric bowl correction plus bronze ring.

Couple of years back i had a Bjarne pipe bought from e-store, when the pipe arrived i saw by surprise that the bowl was asymmetric!
I wanted to return the pipe back but i read that the Bjarne Nielsen past away so i decided to keep it and make some corrections.

So i started the sandpaper plus painting work and i added a bronze ring so after few weeks looked like this:

Some pipe smokers asked me where is the problem with symmetry with this pipe?

If someone compares the left side with the right it's obvious.

I think that sort of thing is more common than most people realize. Very few pipes will be perfectly symmetrical when closely examined. Some are worse than others, like your example here, Sid.

Since an item is handmade for sure couldn't b perfect in symmetry and i didn't expect a results as it comes from Vauen or Stanwell which have pipe-lathe machines. In this case as i looked initially the pipe i thought that she had a tooth problem and the chick was swollen.

Factory pipes aren't completely machine-made. There's still a significant amount of handwork and plenty of room for error.
