Two Stanwell Danish Sovereigns Shapes 05, and 35.

Six Evil Exes...the stem logo. I've been informed it's actually a crown, which makes a lot more sense for a line called Danish Sovereign. Not the most attractive design IMHO. Anyway, shape 05 (the later 1970's version) and the Anne Julie shape 35. I've been looking for a 35 for quite some time, you can see it's a very well done crosscut, with cross grain front and back, and bird's eye on the sides. Both pipes are on the way to Anthony to turn them into "super" seconds. Any opinions on the stem logo folks?

Congratulations, Dave, with a pair of nice Stanwells. Logowise, I must say that I prefer their crown proper.
As I understand it, the 'Sovereign' line was sold on the US market only. But you know that.
I hope you'll post pictures when Anthony has done his magic on them.

Yes, I'd rather see something like that. I'd rather see these pipes with no stem logo, just beautiful black vulcanite!

Indeed. Can't they be be subtly removed...?

Nice looking stanwells! Catman had one similar, I remember.
I don't dislike the stem logo, a little 'odd' perhaps. In Amsterdam, you see loads of flags about with three X's as well.
    St. Bruno simply satisfies!

That's a great 35 -- very nicely shaped. Sometimes they're hit or miss.

Agreed -- stem logos are for the birds.

They should clean right up into a couple of beauties. Are you considering having new stems made?

I like the 35 as well, it's a nice shape. Well done on both though.

Quite the find, Dave! I'm not fond of the logo, either, but I don't like to deprive them of their identity, even second lines like Danish Sovereigns.
