    London Made Peterson

I just bought myself, courtesy of eBay, a London made Peterson Kapet shape 55 lovat. I was in two minds whether to bid because of the p-lip, I prefer the fishtail but I liked the shape and I needed to fill a space on the lovat pipe rack So now it is heading my way. Is there a way of dating these London made pipes as curious minds would like to know. Anyway here's a couple of pics from the seller. Stamped on the side is LONDON MADE over ENGLAND.

Sweet Pete, Nigel. I like the swirled grain on the bowl and the way it flows onto the stem. Congrats!

Really nice Pete, Nigel! Well done!

I don't know of a way to specifically date the London Made Petes. If you find out anything, let us know.

Many years ago at the Pibe Dan shop Carsten Andersen - later a friend of both Jesper and me - was smoking a bent P lip pipe. I asked him how it was to smoke and he said fine. Then I bought a straight P lip billiard shape 15 at the spot. But I could not smoke it so I had the stem changed which I now regret.
Later I have had Peterson fishtail stems changed to P lip and I love them. Tom Palmer once said to me: Either you love them or you hate them.
The lovat use to be 53 nowadays so it could be a rare one. About London Made Petersons try Petersons pipe notes, Mark Irwins web site.Fine pipe !
