Chris, I have a lot of Asian acquaintances on social media and the quality and volume of the pipes and tobacco they acquire would make you weep.

Anthony, with my other hat on, you would not be surprised to hear that the price of a bottle of "Petrus" wine is now approaching $10,000, and even more for some rare Bergundies, for the same reason. It's all about "face".
The amusing thing about this is that many orientals have a genetic deficiency of alchohol dehydrogenase, which means the they can't metabolise it, go bright red and fall over - true, I've seen it in some of our medical students that are determined to challenge their genes!!

So, pronto, I got on the blower to Ben at MSH (first name terms, note) and said WTF is happenin'?

You should tell Ben how much you want and next time it's in maybe he'll save it for you.

That's a good point, CD. I did, but had to pay in advance for a 500g factory pack. Now safely jarred!

Ancient Greece had the "State" and the "2 party in the Parliament" political system thousand years before other countries adopt it so back in 6th BC an "A" party man the Cleisthenes invented a way to "get rid off" his political opponents of the "B" party. According to the new system a complain even anonymous [!] by a citizen to another was enough for the Parliament and the Municipal Assembly to have a meeting to decide if "the regime was threatened by that man's activity and strength" and could contemned him to 10 years of exile without interrogation or apology [!] even if the man had no prior criminal record. Was enough for the procedure if 6000 votes were collected otherwise the meeting was over and the man was free to return back home. The votes were shells on which the citizen wrote the name of the man that was a candidate for an exile.
Thus the majority of the brilliant minds of Atheneans died in exile or in prison cause of that "system" with all the possessions to be pledged.
One day Aristides "the Just" was called and informed that was under a vote for an exile and as he got out from the building a poor man approach him and asked for a help, Aristides replied positive and the poor man gave him an empty shell and a graphida to engrave a name.

"Which name you want from me to engrave?"
    "Aristides"
    "Do you know this man?"
    "No"
"So why you want for this person to be exiled?"
"Because i am tired to hear from all the other people to call him as: The Just"
"So this is the reason that you want to vote against him?"
    "Yes"
Aristides shook his head with skepticism and have the shell to the country man which went into the building to vote happy that he did his duty as a civilian and for the next 10 years he wouldn't hear anything for that "The Just" guy.

I am smoking Dan Pipe Jubilee 30 in a Design Berlin that what happened that day was the epitome of the word "Ingratitude".
