St. Bruno with a pinch of OJK (to make it 'merican) in a Ben Wade. Up to 99.7/37.6; I better check the birdbath!

I haven't seen your birdbath, but I have my doubts you'll fit.

Of interest, I have always thought this blend to be an excellent example of the genre, but with five years' age on it the result is sublime! To my taste this beats BBF, Wessex BVF, and even eclipses Germain Brown Flake (and that is saying something!)
There's more than a little of the Charatan DNA evidenced in that Upshall, Chris.

I've been scared off of the GH unscented Brown Flake ever since I got a batch that was decidedly not unscented. Mind you, I do enjoy the floral, Lakeland essences, but I don't smoke them nearly as often as the unscented varieties. So, now I kind of shy away from anything that comes in both, because I don't trust them to keep the blends properly separated.

With heat like that, maybe you should throw in some ice and have a bath.

Same here. I'm not a Lakeland fan and won't smoke it again because it's definitely not unscented.

A dull day has just become brighter after seeing an old face return to the forum.

Smoking Bosun Cut Plug. The wife in between cheering on Spain has twice commented on how lovely this tobacco smells.

My GH&Co. Brown Flake Unscented (bought in a 500g bag) is absolutely free of Lakeland scenting. It may be as it's UK bought, it may be because it's in bulk, or it may be British tastebuds are different?

I'm sure you're right about the Charatan 'genes' here, Anthony, and it's not surprising to see in the early Upshalls, given JU's lineage from Charatan. Directly to your point, a couple of months ago I saw a much earlier Charatan with the very same shape.

Of the GH blends, I regularly smoke Dark Flake (u/s), Brown Flake (u/s), and Bright CR Flake. Over the past 15 years have never had a problem with 'Lakeland Essence Taint' and I am very sensitive to it

So, either my gustatory gear is inferior or I have become desensitised to LE over the years. Or, most likely, GH deliberately contaminates USA-bound shipments!!

I have no doubt that a truly unscented version is available both here in the US and abroad, but I also know of others that have experienced the same switch-a-roo. I don't know if there's contamination on the production line, during storage, or if it's just a problem with mislabeling, but I don't want to play Russian roulette when making a purchase.
