Well done, Ally! Where was this? Off the Berwickshire coast?

    Hope you ate it?

With all this "fish talk" I think I'll have some sardines on toast for breakfast, then puff on

    Fair do's, Ally.

For eating, it's really the wings of small skate that you want, and they need careful cooking - cue Dave! lol

Need to get a pipe into the "Fash Thread"!

Now smoking the remains of the rubbed-out Irish Slices (must NOT waste this stuff) in an (Orlik) 3/4 OZ.

These are great little pipes - light as a feather and perfect for small volume smokes. They can still be picked up for a song; this one cost me a tenner!

Nice one Ally...a mate of mine back in Glasgow used to fish up that way for skate and shark He was a member of the Big Game Fishing Club I think it was called. He was always asking me to join but I wasn't too keen on boats. We did used to go on conger fishing trips from the shore.

A cold start here but sunny. Been watching the progress of my latest pipe acquisition using the online track and trace facility. Ruddy thing is still at the Buenos Aires sorting office....been there since Friday. Well seen the postal workers union is strong...hence why they don't work at weekends and Monday was a holiday.

Good morning. Good temp, clear sky, nice smoke of Black Virginia in a Carey, even brought a coffee outside with me.

With all the fishing exploits noted here, I'm reluctant to say that I'm not a fisherman or hunter and neither was my father. Oh, I've been out fishing before, once as a kid while on vacation in New Hampshire and once in the Gulf of Mexico near an oil rig, but that's it. My father was a trail hiker and I followed in his boot-steps and became a solo backpacker hiking at 10,000 ft. in New Mexico, around the southern end of the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina, and in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains of New York for days at a time. Now I just sit and smoke me pipe remembering when I was younger and thinner. Currently sipping a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Pete 999, some coffee left on the side.

    Russ

After all of the statistics and reports are finished with, I've come to the conclusion that the only real danger of smoking a pipe is being interrupted.

I used to combine hiking trips with fishing Russ. I'd walk then camp beside some remote loch or river and cast a fly for the trout. Just as well I always carried plenty of food as I was rarely successful at catching anything. The pleasure was just being outdoors in the wild, sitting beside the camp fire smoking Condor....with a dram or two.
