    Brakner Antique 812

Another pipe from the pipe vault. It's the pipe I was thinking about when we were having our discussion about the green dot on Brakner stems. The stem is the original, with no green dot. Perhaps sold at W.O. Larsen, late '50's early '60's (I'm not sure when the micro rustication finish first appeared). I'm also including an image from the 1960-61 Larsen catalog; shape 812 is not shown in the catalog, but 813 is sort of a straight version of the same idea.

Brakner pipes were all over here in the sixties. The pipe on which Jensotto Stilling won the world championship.
I have had two. How I got them unused in the late 80ties is another story. Stamped antique, rustic and with a green dot
in the stem. I was foolish enough to sell them at a club auction.
You just have to take a two hours Danish lesson on your local evening school and then you will be able to read an
    Brakner article in STOP 19/1968

Now I got interested. I have a "book" with cut outs from newspapers and magazines by a pipemad man - not me.
Here is also an article " How i became world champion". It is rather boring, It was in 1955.
I remember the Brakner boxes for display with one dozen pipes. Written was: " Verdesmesterskabspiben". Well, no
Danish at your local eveningschool so: Worldchampionpipe.

(I'm not sure when the micro rustication finish first appeared)
    Another beautiful Brakner, Dave.

As far as I remember, the 1955 Championship winner that Jørgen tells about, was rusticated.
Early next month, I'm going to visit the municipal archives in the town of Sorø; they have four file folders on Brakner's two pipe factories and one of the four contains a thank-you letter from Edward G. Robinson, dating from the early sixties.
Maybe the files contain the information as to when the green spot was introduced.

    Great information, Jørgen. Thanks.
I'm looking for a complete set, one that I can afford.
I once saw a set selling for 900 kr. and now I regret that I didn't buy it.

Another very interesting pipe, Dave. I especially like that micro-rusticated finish as well as the unique bowl shape.

Iversen købte for 500.
