    The other thing it looks like this pipe maker could spend some time on is the shaping of the button, making it "crisper" and more defined, and of course a slot. The devil is in the details.

    I think it's a nice piece of briar with an attractive stain that brings out the grain very well. Not my shape of pipe, though.

    Wonderful Job on the finish Anthony! It is hard to believe that THAT grain was there to begin with...The finish looks like it is 3 inches deep! Like an old Lacquer paint job on a beautiful car.

    Thanks, Sonny. That layered look is what I always like to see in a smooth wood finish; dark major grain sitting on top that jumps out at you with lighter minor grain snaking around underneath.
