So, the leather pouches are the only ones that you use for pipe storage?

Thanks, CD. I suspect that this is typical of most pipe smokers.

Rather like all those 'complimentary' airline amenity kit bags I've got in the cupboard sitting doing nothing which I paid a fortune for.
Thanks for the response, Crawford. You pretty much got right to the heart of why I was asking.

Dozens of them - all sitting in a drawer doing nothing but taking up space (but not as much as all the pipe boxes!).

Thanks, Jim. Collect enough of them and you could have a quilt made.

I keep my pipes in drawers, I always keep them in their socks to stop them getting banged about when I open them to get one.

I noticed that in the photos from your new gentleman's lair. I like that system.

I really don't have a use for pipe socks. The estate pipes that I've bought either didn't come with a sock or came with standard-issue SP socks, a few of which are on my desk or in the pipe boxes that I've saved. The Petes that I bought new came with the Peterson socks and, I think, I gave those to my wife to hold some of her hobby stuff because she liked the color. The one that I keep as part of the pipe collection is the original BBB sock that came with the "Own Make Virgin".

I've never seen an SP pipe sock. The estate pipes that have come here from SP have all been sockless. You must be on the preferred customer list, Russ.

I use a pipe sock. Two of me Kaywoodie's came with one, me prince has one and I have a generic green sack for the rest. Most of me meers have a case. I use the sock when I'm just grabbing a pipe for the ride to work or the B&M. If I'm doing any real travelling I throw me pipes in a pistol case. I like the sock and I use them 'cause I have them, other than that, they are kind of unnecessary.
    How'd I get in here?
