What's in Your Pipe? September 2018

Iíve been burning the midnight oil in the shop tonight and I think the lamp has finally burned out. One last bowl of Milan Tobacconistís Our Mixture 965 in an Old Rarity billiard, and then off to bed.

Good morning to the boys across the pond and sweet dreams to the west coast colonials.

The new wine cellar was very popular with the doctoral students last night. Interestingly, the Languedoc rose wine (the cheapest of the three) was most in demand. I developed my own cadence of Pouilly Fuisse (white), followed by the rose, then the red Coudelet de Beaucastel............and repeat!

Lots of fun and extreme banter. Got home about 7.30 pm to a bowl of pappardelle and standing orders to get up the wooden hill and out of trouble.

Now smoking Peterson 3P's in a gold-mounted Peterson pipe:

Easy day today - smoking plugs, listening to the cricket (England vs. India) on TMS and reading. I have started to re-read Larry McMurtry's wonderful "Lonesome Dove" series, but in temporal sequence rather than the order in which they were published.

Tonight it will be rack of lamb with a special bottle of claret - no champagne, the missus is improved but still not back on the champers.

Now smoking Warrior Plug (fitting, in view of the escapades in McMurtry's novels) in a pre-rep Pete "System".

Power cut again! We live within sight of the largest non-nuclear power station in Europe but I think our supply is by an extension lead out of the back door.

Having re-set all clocks, computer etc., it's Germain's Brown Flake in a '44 Dunhill Bruyere #104/1:
