When did Peterson change their grades

I have aquired a Peterson 314 system pipe 0 grade. It is stamped MADE IN ENGLAND (in block format) so I think equates to the same era as the irish free state /Eire period.
I am trying to narrow it down further by trying to find out when the grades changed from 0 2 3 to standard supreme etc as I have seen system standard pipes with Eire stampings.

Up to at least 1937 the O grade had stems like nowadays De Luxe with a gab and same shape numbers.
As todays standards the 2nd and 3rd grades had plain army stems and 3xx shape numbers.
I have a 312 O grade stamped like yours. I think it is made after the war and of course before they closed in London.
So when did they changed stem on the O grade is also a quistion

About O grade in the 1937 catalogue : "A grade slightly under first quality, finished in light walnut colour and best Hall marked silver mounts with space for wear of vulcanite" and you could get a shape 11 for 13/6 ( De Luxe 25- and 1 quality 18/6)

Dave, unfortunately not I think it is a nickel cap with just the Faux hallmarks.I had read that link ,that is where I got the pre39 dating from

Jorgen, thank you for the information going on the fact it has a block type COM mark I was guessing pre 1939 as that appears to be when the round COM mark starts in Ireland. It at least confirms 0 grade was listed at least to 1937.IF it could be dated when the change in stem type occured that would narrow it down further still

Interestingly this quote from the page Dave linked dates the round Eire stamping

Eire was formed on 29 December 1937. The Made in Eire Era will be from 1938 through roughly 1940? or 1941?. For dates with ?'s, see below. Peterson now stamped their pipes with "Made in Eire" in a circle format with "Made" and "Eire" in a circle with the "in" located in the center of the circle. This COM was used during the years of 1938 - 1940?/41?. Later they stamped their pipes with "Made in Ireland" in a circle format (1945?-1947?) and still later with "Made in Ireland" in a block format (1947?-1949). The "Made in Ireland" block format came in either one line or two lines.

this pipe has Eire stamping and premier grade,

so I guess we can assume the grade change came between 1937 and the end of the Eire stamp 1941?
