Lane “ Formula “ old stash

    Hello,
I am new to this forum and just joined last night and hope to learn lot.
I recently bought 16 oz of looks like old tobacco , it’s Lane product with Formula blend I believe
Is anyone familiar with this tobacco. I wish I knew how old is it or if is Aromatic ? It’s glass jar with small square label inside where says in yellow letters : Lane Limited. And at very top Formula
Anyway to check it before smoke it hehe.
    Thanks for your help ,
    Les

It would be interesting to see a picture of what you have, really the best way to be able to answer your question Les. I haven't been to Big Sky country in a LONG time, 35 + years, but I remember it being beautiful.

I'm assuming that you bought the tobacco on the second hand market, Les. That's the only way to get a Lane blend in a glass jar as far as I'm aware. It could be someone's personal mix or possibly a B&M mix using Lane components. In any case, open it up, give it a sniff and if it passes the nose test, give it a smoke. Then, tell us what you think of it.

Cheers and welcome to the forum, Les!

Fixed the pic. The insert image icon in the toolbar only works in Go Advanced mode. Don't ask me why...because I don't know. That being said, what you have there looks pretty cool! What kind of aroma are you getting from the tobacco?

    More on Lane Ltd.,

So as to age, 1983 or before from what I'm reading.

Les, how did you find this tobacco? Where did you buy it?

Hello and thanks you for the info.
I have friend in Victor, Montana and she has small colllecting / antique store and people bring in and also she buys from time to time. I believe that passible gentlemen passed away and perhaps his wife brought the pipes and tobaccos to the store.
Interesting that member here believes could be 1983 !

Passible aged like great red wine hehe. We have cellar with over 800 bottles and I know how well they can taste after years. Perhaps could be same scenario with older tobacco
Up to now I was smoking occasionally cigars , but I don’t work and fly fish everyday here in beautiful Bitterroot Valley and after trying some sweeter tobacco I love it, so relaxing !
Thanks for heads up on the photo option, I had to resized bit to get it working.
Is any of you ever hear Danish hand made pipes from Prince Amled ? I purchased two very nice smaller pipes , very beautiful wood grain. I paid 20$ for each and 15$ for the Lane tobacco 16 oz
I need to take good sniff of it , but as I said I am very new in tobacco ( never smok d cigarettes and just cigar here and there ) so perhaps my teste need to develop bit.

    Wow, thanks for the link
I actually did read on it last night. It makes sense since after 83’ they moved to Tucker, Georgia
So, it had to be before 83

Very cool, Les! That's definitely not a home brew and it pre-dates anything that I know about Lane tobacco.
