    DGT insights

A handy hint for those of us who love F&T Cut Blended Plug. Add this one to the list of baccies that you should DGT overnight. This morning I picked up my Luciano pot/billard that I left two thirds unsmoked yesterday afternoon. I experienced an enhancement of a very good smoke that made it better in every respect. I've found that DGT'ing is effective for many Virginia and VaPer blends.

I just can't do the DGT thing. The tobacco always tastes sour and ashy to me, no matter what the blend is. Maybe, I'm doing something wrong.

I keep the ambient-dwelling agents of sourness out of the bowl by covering the bowl. Most convenient are the little dosage cups that fit nicely over the bowl. Covering prevents too much environment from interacting with the baccy. Also, I limit my DGT time to overnight or a little longer. I agree that it doesn't work with many blends, aros are particularly to be avoided yet even then there are exceptions.

I do the char light and lightly tamp it down, before setting it aside overnight. Works for me.

I get the same effect, Anthony, so I never do the DGT.

I always leave a bowl prepped overnight for the first smoke of the day. Sometimes I do what you do, then cover the extinguished contents with a little plastic cup. That works for me, except with some aros.
