The link below will hopefully take you to a BBC I-Player film - "They Shall Not Grow Old", made by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings film series fame). It lasts more than an hour, and the integration of all the footage and the astonishingly realistic colouration of the WW1 clips can only have been a massive labour of love - it has taken the UK by storm.

It is both fascinating and utterly horrifying.

Note, the BBC will take down this masterpiece at the end of this week.

EDIT - plenty of pipes in this!! AND a tin of Fray Bentos!!! LOL

I've heard a lot about this, Chris, especially how the "HD-ification" of the old footage makes it more visceral to a modern audience. Unfortunately, it's not viewable in the states through iPlayer, but it will be released theatrically here next month.

I saw a clip about the making of this on BBC World and it is fascinating to see how the colour was added. Your link won't work for me but I'm sure there are ways around that. I download a lot of UK TV via torrent sites so I'm sure I can download it there.
    Thanks for the reminder Chris.
