    Another G-Grade James Upshall (unsmoked)

I just won this on eBay. I have two other G-grades and they are superb in every way.

I don't really like buying unsmoked pipes - they are always much more expensive, and I'm going to smoke them anyway. I won this for very close to my top bid and there were lots of other bidders.

It is unlikely there will be English pipes of this quality in the future.

More cutting out of my herd will now be necessary!

As long as you're happy Chris then that's all that matters....I have to say it is a beauty.

I'll tell you how much I like your new pipe after I stop weeping.

Thanks, Simon! Like green-eyed Celtic lassies, I'm a sucker for high-grade JU pipes. It's interesting, I haven't seen a G-grade with flame grain markings before; the two I have are more straight grain and with a lighter stain.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the break-in.

Incidentally, Jon, the seller, is the very same that sold me the 1977 Peterson Deluxe - he does show some nice pipes.

But could you see the steam coming out of her ears? That's a beautiful pipe, Chris, and may it provide you with years of smoking enjoyment!
