I'd have no hesitation in reporting this guy to Ebay for not revealing the flaws.
I don't know how your site works, Crawford, but some of the eBay sellers aren't really pipe guys. They just found some pipes in the attic, at a yard sale, or whatever. They really haven't a clue whether a pipe's stem is original or not. Hell, they might not even know which part is the stem!

Having said that, the case with this Comoy's pipe is something quite different. The seller has made his reputation on selling high end pipes. He certainly knows what should be disclosed.

You're right Anthony many of the sellers here are in the house clearance business as well judging by the other items they sell. However a few seem to specialise in pipes and the seller I mentioned is one of them. The others are pretty genuine and offer money back if the item doesn't match the description.

Aside from any other consideration involved in this deathless saga of a thread, the seller admitted to me that he had overlooked the plugged holes in question and he immediately reimbursed my money upon receipt of the returned item. This, of course, is a separate issue from the reposting of the pipe as a bid item on ebay, so I'm only adverting to those episodes of the miniseries that involve my role in the same. I believe that this incident has been something of an education for us all. There's something to be learned here that can benefit both buyers and sellers.

Yes it does look as if the seller is hoping some buyer will come along who won't be bothered enough by the holes to send it back for a refund.

One could always ask the seller to show a photo of the bottom of the pipe. That would be interesting.

Well, the seller is doing better now. The current bidding status is much higher than I paid for it that first time around. What an enterprising fellow.
