Good Saturday Morning, Gentlemen! It's 34°F/1.1°C, cloudy, and we'll have some rain today here in our neighborhood and it seems the sun has been avoiding our town for some time now. Our new landlord is coming by this afternoon and I'm wondering if he'll go for the idea of having him renovate the workshop. Nothing big, mind you, just insulation, new flooring, painted wallboard, new French doors, and maybe a couple of windows. I don't want to overwhelm him with requests on our first meeting. I started this first day of December with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake and am currently smoking GLP's Fillmore VaPer in the BBB "Own Make Virgin", a first mug of coffee is tucked under my jacket.

It is a very long time since I last broke in a brand-new pipe.

For its maiden voyage, my new G-grade James Upshall will get a 3/4 bowl of Bulwark (the blend I have always used to smoke-in new pipes).

We lost power last night for an hour and a half after a storm passed through the town. Not a lot of rain fell but the lightning show was impressive so I can only assume a lightning bolt triggered the power outage.
After a bit of a lie-in this morning I got up to find the temperature had dropped quite dramatically overnight from the low 20's when I went to bed to single figures. Still only 10c now with a gusty wind blowing, however it is sunny and they say it should be around 20c later.

Finished breakfast and now puffing away on some twist I started last thing before going to my kip. 1st of December....not my favourite month I have to say...come to think of it neither is January for this grumpy old sod.

We had Christmas music at the post-RIP "social" last night - Pogues were the most requested!

    Hello,

10C/50F here as well, the difference compared to Crawford's whereabouts is that this all we are getting today. It's remained pretty friendly with some proper sunshine, and even under a cloud cover, things looked pretty friendly on the weather front. This just won't last, and rain is coming later today and tomorrow.

We had a nice chat with the relatives while they were here, and will have cake among ourselves within the next hour or so. I've used the time in between to establish myself in the shed, get the new repeater for my Wi-Fi going, and I have also fed more of the pound of 50+ tobaccos into the daily jar. While I was at it, the G&H mix got a good helping of Brown Flake unscented as well as some Perique.

Smoking a bowl from the daily jar in an Orlik Virgin billiard, while listening to my brother in law's power tools as he is buffing up the surfaces of massive wooden furniture that my niece will have in her flat. There's some delay with her move as work on the flat takes longer, but she's still likely to be out by Christmas. It's not at all like we were looking forward to her being gone, we are rather happy for her starting a new phase in jer life. And she will live just a mile and a quarter from our house anyway.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Very pleased with the new JU pipe - I like the group 5 bowl, the draw suits me perfectly and it weighs in at 40g (not bad for a big pipe). My other two G-grades are reserved for FVF/P and fine brown flakes respectively; not sure about this one - maybe burley-based blends, I'll decide when it is fully broken in (which won't be long, judging by today's smoke).

    A lovely picture Anthony.

Thankfully they don't go in for Christmas trees and lights here so I'm spared that annual chore of untangling and testing them.
