Thankfully they don't go in for Christmas trees and lights here so I'm spared that annual chore of untangling and testing them.
    Aye, Crawford - lucky you!

I hate Christmas tree lights - depending on the circuitry, if one bulb goes on the blink or is not properly screwed in, that's the lot buggered!! We get a new set nearly every year!

The Three Friars are watching my brace of dachshunds trying to clear off the
squirrels around the feeders. The rascally rodents just chatter and flick their
    tails in distain.

Very funny cartoon, Thomas! It resonates!!

Fairytale of New York is one of my favorite Christmas songs, Chris. It's sad, sweet, raw and real. I have a few different versions of it.

Anthony, it was interesting and great to see that our doctoral students (early twenties) knew it, and loved it.

I don't like to be wasteful at all, but I make an exception for Christmas lights. If a string doesn't work properly, I toss them and get new a new string. Too many things can go wrong with a relatively delicate string of lights and I don't have the time to test them all. It's bad enough that I have to straighten out the tangled mess, which there always is no matter how careful I am when I put them away.

Loved the dog pics, Jim. Especially the expression on the 'eyeballs-out' (?)bulldog!

Starting off my smoking day with Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 1982 black sandblasted paneled slight bend Savinelli flat bottom sitter with a black vulcanite saddle stem. A cold glass of Simply Apple is my drink.
