I can never win the Christmas Day turkey battle, Jim.

BUT on Boxing Day, I insist on a bone-in rib of beef roast.

    EDIT ...........with goose fat roasties!!

Funny the wife and I were discussing this yesterday. I seem to remember last year was a bit of a washout here so the Xmas BBQ was cancelled.
The usual is for me to BBQ a large pork rib while sweating profusely in 30c heat. This year the plan is to have it out at the countryside place now that it's in better condition. Which is good for me as it's usually cooler out there. On the odd occasion one of her mothers friends comes along which is nice as it keeps her occupied instead of us having to keep her entertained.

Starters will be an informal help yourself Argentine picada....a mix of cheese, ham, dry chorizo, salami etc. This is taken while the pork rib is cooking so nobody starves if the rib is taking too long to cook.
As for drink....cold beer for me when at the BBQ. Then wine with dinner and a sweet sparkling one for dessert just to keep mother in law happy as it's a tradition...I'm not a big fan of the stuff but don't mind a sip. The dinner wine will be an average Malbec....we're not connoisseurs and the mother in law usually mixes something with it anyway.

No trees, lights, crackers or party hats...at the end of the day once mother in law has gone home and we're home I shall have a dram and say to myself....'thank F that's all over'!!

To keep in the spirit though, the smaller dogs have hung up their Christmas stockings:
That looks great Jim...nice and cosy.

I did suggest to the wife that we should get a flagpole erected and I could hoist the Union Jack/Flag when we're in residence....she wasn't taken with the idea.

Guess what my family's TV viewing will be on Christmas Day?

We have watched it every year for the past decade - love it, 'specially when I'm half-pished!!

I hope you don't force the rest of the family to watch it Chris? I've never seen it and that's the truth.

When I was a kid it was always that Bing Crosby movie that was on at Christmas.....at least he was a pipe smoker.

A bit soppy for my tastes, but I can understand why it "went viral".
