After a decadent half a ham and cheese sandwich for dinner, now smoking some more of that Solani Virginia Flake 633, which really tastes even better after about 9 years in the jar. Somehow seems rather incongruous to be puffing it in a pygmy pipe, the Moonshine "Devil Anse". But hey it works. What say the Freudians now? They stand rebuked.

The only ones I watch are those ingrained in the family tradition as D#2's favourites, formed many years ago - "Elf" and "Home Alone". Strangely, since she was only a small child, her all-time favourite is the 1951 Alastair Sim Scrooge version of "Christmas Carol" - we watch it every year; I also reread the Dickens novel (which is quite a short read for one of his).

Can't beat Alastair Sims Scrooge, although the 'upbeat' ending ruined the film for me. Lol only joking!
Great old actor, love watching his films. An Inspector Calls by JB Priestly is one of his best, too.

No love for Bing on a pipes forum? Tsk-tsk! I shall correct that with my two favourites: White Christmas and Holiday Inn. One is impossibly hokey and the other we could quibble about whether itís even about Christmas itself. But at this time of year I quite enjoy hokey and have seen enough to realize that most holiday movies arenít actually about Christmas so much as they are Christmas-adjacent.

While at it, big ups to Thomas for Christmas in Connecticut. Love it. Iím also hopping on board the Itís A Wonderful Life wagon.

A couple difficult to find gems that might be worth your persistence and open mindedness: Happy Holidays with Bing and Frank and Trailer Park Boys Xmas Special. Strictly speaking, neither are films in their own right, just special episodes of tv shows that somehow became part of the cannon.

I reckon you ought to treat yourself to a bottle of whisky, son. Do you the world of good.
