Your pipe of the year 2018.

Asks me who doesn't have many pipes to chose a pipe of the year from.

How about those with large pipe collections? Did you acquire a new one that has become your favourite or is it still one you've had for years?

I bought three pipes this year. A City de Luxe, the Gordon and the sexy black Falcon and loved smoking all three. However for some reason even when not smoking it I'm always picking up and admiring the Gordon. I like how it feels and as time goes on its colour and grain just gets better looking. How about you?

I think I get better looking, but I have yet to find someone that agrees with me!!

Having said that, Crawford, your POTY would grace any collection!!

My POTY 2018 would have to be the Sixten Ivarrson Product, shape #19:

But no pipe will ever beat "Big Bertie", a 1914 Barling with a history - my POTC (century)

I suspected the Ivarsson would get a mention Chris....quite rightly so.

Oh....and in the right light I think I get better looking with age as well.

I have two Pipes of the Year. One is the 1950 Russ' Conception Year Dunhill lovat, a very generous gift from Chris:

And the other is the recently-purchased James Upshall Dublin:

Both are terrific smokers and most worthy of the stamp "Made in England".

Thank you, Crawford. Those two, along with the BBB Canadian, form a solid foundation for slowly growing English collection.

My pipe of 2018 has to be Northern Briars 60th Anniversary pipe bought as a gift to myself for my 60th Birthday, and it smokes not half bad either!
