    Hello and welcome from Germany,

I didn't know anything about Digger Flake, but here is some information (only text, the posted photos seem to have gone by now): http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topi...-gtimage-heavy

I'm not sure I understand what sort of Burley is in it, plain Burley as in Aged Burley Flake, or the dark fired variety (Kentucky). The latter seems more likely when Digger is compared to St Bruno and (as in the link above) to Erinmore Flake.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Hi to everyone and thank you for all your help,
i have had man flu for the two weeks but prior to that i was searching the online tobacconists and found one in the uk called McGahey's, and in their loose tobacco listing was digger flake,so sent a email asking is this the real deal and received a very honest answer saying it was the same mix but obviously from a different supplier.

well it came this morning and it looks and smells exactly as i remember.i am not quite 100% yet so will be giving it a go in the near future.

will let you know what i think.

P.S. keep opening and having a sniff

Michael, please do let us know what you think of their "Digger Flake" - if it's any good, I'll be on the blower to Exeter!

I followed your link to their site - they certainly have a range of blends I've never heard of........in house??

PS - thinking back to your OP, have you ever tried Ogden's Walnut Flake? Olde Brit style Burley/Va - my dad's favourite blend and easily in my top ten. (Now renamed "Original)

There are a lot of things listed on Martins site than were discontinued years ago, I think he keeps them on and sends a "match" alternative.
    Regards,

    Nigel

He does. I've been in his shop a couple of times, right in the heart of Exeter. Lovely old town! His 'Digger' is in fact Ogdens 'Walnut Flake'. Or it used to be before changing to 'Original'. Most of his other blends are G&Hs. His 'Buckland Curlies' are G&Hs Curly Cut for example.
    St. Bruno simply satisfies!

Martin was a pioneer of mail order tobacco in UK and resurrected several discontinued blends (e.g. Three Nuns, Cut Golden Bar, Bulwark, Tam O' Shanter); sadly, those days have gone, suppliers have changed, and there's nothing that you now can't get elsewhere if you know where to look.

PS: still got his catalogue and AITS guide from many years ago

I've been there too, only a small place. I bought his Buckland Curlies previously and enjoyed them, never did find out what blend it actually was and now I know. Thanks Simon.
