Glad you can keep this up year after year Jim. Wish we had something like that locally. Question .GQ Tobacco is still a going concern? I thought he was going to leave the business.

It's as Paul says: Glynn sold out to an established retailer and the GQ business is now run by Sam Brammer.

The reason he got out was the need (and cost) to register his own blends and these were discontinued; some have been resurrected as a kit of components to blend your own. Bearing in mind that most of Glynn's blends were created by mixing (mainly) GH&Co. tobacco's, re-registration was avoided. Glynn said he couldn't have made a living e-selling just proprietary blends against the larger competition. We still keep in touch but Glynn has stopped smoking pipes and sold his own ones.

Sam has joined Facebook sites and has turned out to be a great young man and a first rate e-tailer.

Oh okay business friendly red tape, yes I forgot. Shame I guess but if he himself gave up pipes then certainly a severe response!

I watched the video of last years event on You Tube last night....sure I watched it before but it was good to see it again. There did seem to be a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere about the place.
Shame the sale of tobacco is not allowed though.

    Hello,

Pleased to say that I'll be attending this year's show again after missing it last year. I booked the hotel and flights this afternoon. Will go to Jim on Friday before the show and then travel to Nottingham with him. Afterwards I'll have till the next Friday to spend in Newcastle and the wider area. Well trodden paths for me up there in the north east of England by now, but I always look forward to it when in get the chance to visit.

    Best wishes
    Markus
