Now smoking old Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Doing some research.

    Hello,

Great to hear, Jim, that your wait is finally over. I suppose we all know what it's like. Patience is a precious thing, and precious things are in short supply. Personally I can be very patient as long as something doesn't take too much time.

My first pipe in the shed was a sandblasted, and likely re-stemmed GBD New Standard billiard from the Tynemouth haul. As in the previous pipes, there was an edge to the flavours, bordering on a bite, when I smoked tobacco from the daily jar in it. So far, all three pipes have behaved exactly the same as each other, and I have treated them all the same, using a trick learned in my early pipe forum days at pipes.org: Stir the ashes after finishing the smoke, let the pipe cool, close the bowl with a match box and shake the ashes till the bowl's walls are covered in a thin layer. This has helped me to have smoother smokes in the second and following smokes. I don't think I ever had to use the method more than a two or three times.

After the GBD, I have just finished a Dunhill Shell Briar billiard with a 9mm filter in place, which brought out a sweeter side in the tobacco from the daily jar.

After a long post-lunch nap I postponed the visit to the supermarket to tomorrow morning. Then tomorrow afternoon I'm going to Cologne to attend our usual get-together. I haven't been there for quite a while so I look forward to it.

But for the rest of today, I'm firmly planted in the shed, except supper time in an hour or so.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Good Afternoon, Gentlemen! It's cool here and the rain has stopped so the sky may just clear up after a while. Back in the workshop and Grover is snoozing next to me on the shabby loveseat. Later on I have to make a grocery store trip for yet more cat food and some other stuff, but a nap will come first. Now finishing a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the BBB Canadian with a second mugga joe on the tobacco table.

Never got to sleep, but I did enjoy a couple of egg, ham and cheese biscuits along with some hash browns, and cantaloupe. Now smoking Artís Virginia in a 1980s White Pipe straight, smooth rhodesian meerschaum with an acrylic yellow cream colored saddle stem. A bottle of Nesbitt's Orange soda is my drink.

Such a beautiful day to be inside so I assisted the wife in collecting more avocados....she knocked them down while I attempted to catch them before they hit the ground. Only one escaped and was quickly snaffled by Pepe. He was allowed to keep it as it was partly rotten anyway. Still around ten left on the smaller tree but they were too high so will need to get a longer pole.
Now having an afternoon coffee and a bowl of Amphora in the Wimbledon.
