Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple and doing the same with my last smoke of the day, which is year 1999 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed in a 2015 Basil Meadows black sandblasted billiard with an aluminum band and a pearl red acrylic tapered stem. Reading baseball box scores.

Good Saturday Morning, Gentlemen! It's a rather cool 55F/12.7C with a mostly clear sky as the sun is rising here in the neighborhood. September weather is on the way. BBQ chicken tonight, so I have to give the grill a good cleaning and I'll record the Liverpool vs Arsenal match to watch later on in the afternoon. Now smoking a bowl of BBF in the Pete "Irish Harp 999" with a fresh mug of coffee on the tobacco table.

Not far from finishing this bowl of Jim's VaPer in a 2014 smooth medium bend Basil Meadows egg with an aluminum band and a "root beer swirl" acrylic stem.

Almost half way through this bowl of old Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style.

    Hello,

Yesterday we had another good meeting at Peter Heinrichs' shop in Cologne. There were just three of us, mainly due to the summer holidays, but the chat and the smokes were as good as always.

I bought, among other things, Mac Baren Pure Virginia and Latakia Flake, and together with the Acadian Perique I had already, I started experimenting today to find something comparable to the Whitley Bay Mixture, which exclusively consists of tobaccos manufactured in the UK.

I have made three batches so far: First 4 flakes (2 Grams each) of Pure Virginia, 1 flake (2.4g) of Latakia flake and 4g Acadian Perique. Here the smell of the mixture seemed to be spot on, but the Acadian Perique overwhelmed the Latakia. Secondly, 4 flakes Pure Virginia, 1 Latakia Flake and then Acadian Perique in an optically equal amount to the Latakia, meaning the little heap of Acadian looked the same size as the rubbed out Latakia Flake. Here, the Latakia overwhelmed the rest. So finally, I made a third batch changing the amount of Acadian to about one and a half of the Latakia, again going by the looks of the heaps.

The third attempt got the balance right, but will be improved by adding another flake of Pure Virginia. I will smoke each batch once again, then tweak the less convincing ones to resemble the best one. No tobacco will be wasted.

I'm in the shed now and have just finished a bowl of the Whitley Bay mix in a James Upshall apple. This confirmed that I will eventually manage a pretty good match using Mac Baren tobaccos.

I also bought a tin of Rattray's Red Lion yesterday, so at some later point I can to the same experiment with Rattray's tobaccos.

    Best wishes
    Markus

Slept late. Perfect weather, 69 degrees and clear. ODF in a Radice and coffee. About to go out and make sure no neighbor is still sleeping as I try out the new chain saw.
