    Hardcastle 'Sandhewn'

Here's an unusual one, a Royal Windsor Sandhewn (54). Sporting what I believe is a 'faux' blast. Pipe is in fantastic shape, looks like it only had a half bowl smoked in it, previously.

That's a nice pipe Simon, I like the lovat and most derivatives of that style.

    Nice pipe Simon.

Hardcastle estate pipes pop up for sale here quite regularly. Very tempting I have to say but I've so far managed to resist.

The sandhewn Hardcastles arrived here in the late sixties. I smoke a Liverpool and a small apple and have another small apple in stock. Mine are naturels.
Years ago I sawed up the bowl on another of these. Quite interesting to see how the wood had burnt.

Cheers, Crawford. The older ones are very good pipes. I'd stay away from the newer production ones, though. Stems are utter crap! IMO, of course.

Congrats on the Hardcastle, Simon! That is an unusually deep blast, I would say, and looks great.
