Even the second hand ones here cost a ruddy fortune....not that they're worth it. It's all because they're 'meerschaum'.
I actually don't like most of those old style of meerschaums Ally. Some of the modern styles are okay.
Because if you get a good one, you'll find you reach for it when you fancy a change. They seem to work best with the stronger types of tobacco, which is what you smoke. I've never seen a Bullcap meer, but there are always a few small billiards & cutties about on eBay. You can also get meershaum 'lined' or full meershaum bowls for Falcons. I prefer the taste of briar but I'm glad I've got a couple of meers for when the mood strikes. Simon says 'splash that cash' Crawford!
