It took awhile to get to you. I figured it might be confiscated because as I drove to the PO the scent from the package was quite high and might get caught because of it. I hope you are able to keep the Penzance lit, it takes a little stoking. Enjoy.

I did a favor for a friend, and he unexpectedly repaid the favor by gifting me tins of C&D Red Flake, Sansepolcro, and Dunhill Navy Rolls, plus a pack of pipe cleaners. Nice surprise!

Some Sutliff re-stock from 4Noggins, and a new one to try on JimInk's recommendation,

8oz of Match Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture (new to me)
    4oz of 507C Virginia Slices
    8oz of 515 RC-1 Virginia
    8oz of 507S Stoved Virginia

    Also, from tobaccopipes,

8 tins of Former's Cross Grain Flake

The Former's tobaccos are apparently no longer being produced, and these 8 tins were all they had, so I was glad to find them.

That's another good tobacco brand lost to us if they have indeed stopped production. I really liked their Straight Grain Flake.

I just received my monthly tobacco order and in the box was...

    ...150g Dan Limerick VA Flake
    ...200g HH Pure VA Flake
    ...150g Amphora VA Flake
    and 100g GLP Fillmore

All jarred or set aside for opening later on.

    Looks good Russ.

I've heard HH VA Flake is very similar in taste to Amphora Virginia...someone even said the Amphora is just HH flake broken up. Any thoughts?

To me, Crawford, the Amphora VA is brighter and the HH Pure VA is deeper and fuller. I really have to put some of the Amphora in the cellar for a year because I suspect it will age very well. I'm a big fan of the Amphora.

    Hello,

funnily enough, I would have described them the other way round. But certainly not as equal. And, as I said a while ago, there is an earthiness to the Amphora VA that reminds me of Gawith and Hoggarth and isn't present in the HH Pure VA.

Also, I've broken up HH Pure VA myself, and the outcome is finer, due to the finely sliced flakes, whereas the Amphora is a bit more roughly cut.

    Best wishes
    Markus
