The Corncob & New Smoker Primer

I have just updated my Corncob & New Smoker Primer to include more advice and information for both new smokers, and well as more experienced pipers. It has grown so large that I would have to split it up into five separate posts, so instead, here is the link to the article at Pipedia.

    From the wiki linked above:

"After 53 years, I still use my dad's way of doing things. I don't fool with a false/charring light, but simply light it and start smoking.

Dry your tobacco more than you think you need to. Pack it looser than you think you need to. Smoke it slower than you think you need to. Tamp it less, and more lightly, than you think you need to."

Not sure how long it's been since I first read this, been awhile, close to the best advice I've come across!

    Enjoy your tobacco,

I really enjoyed reading this. Many thanks I am going to start exploring the world of cobs as I've never smoked one.

Well, looks like we might have a new member of The Corn Cob Snob Society in the works!
Seriously, cobs rock. There are some blends, such as Carter Hall, that just don't taste right in anything else.

Yep, One of the best pipes you are likely to smoke is inexpensive and found at the corner grocery. Nah, can't be true!
