    Eagle Claw After Waxing

Kind of a gloomy day here in Nashville, so the lighting isn't the best, but here's a pic of my meer after:

    - Sitting in a sunny hot truck for 4 hours and getting quite faded
    - Being re-waxed thanks to Anthony's encouragement and gift of beeswax
    - Getting 56 bowls of baccy run through it over a two week period
    - Sitting in its case for a month

She's still got that weird rose tint on the near talon, but is basically showing up well and I am pleased. I hope to get a more accurate pic someday when the ambience is less dreary...

I love every "tint" that claw has.

Just to illustrate the understanding bond we pipe smokers share between us my daughter is over visiting and looking over my shoulder at this post. She asked what it was about and I explained. Then she commented "that pipe needs cleaning not waxing!"

    Shaping up nicely Billy.

I bet if I sanded it down and polished it up I could get it white as new in a few days.

Looking great. We have a great week of weather coming, I am sure you could get another 30 bowls in. :)

SAH-WEET, Man!!! That thing is coloring up nicely, Billy! I find it interesting that the part that holds the burning tobacco is the least colored portion.

Yeah-- that's why the whole egg/claw thing works so well in a meer, since the egg remains light while the claw colors. I've read that the hottest parts of the pipe melt the wax in deeper and so the color gets trapped before it reaches the surface. That's why shanks (the coolest part) color first and most I reckon.
