I don't know enough about Sasienis to judge whether it's the real deal or a counterfeit of some sort, but the stamping does look suspect, and as Jesse said, the grain isn't remarkable, either, certainly not in league with Andrew's pipe. Regardless of its alleged rarity, it's not worth near $1,200.00 to me. For that kind of money, I'm sure I could buy several high end pipes, or a bushel basket of decent estate pipes in need of some TLC, or a whole lot of tobacco.

I'd pass on that pipe, too...
    With kind regards, Bo

    Good evening,
first, thank you all for accepting me into this Forum.
I bought an estate (re-issue) Sasieni Specially Selected ONE dot a couple of months ago in the most renowned pipe shop in Rome, where I live.
I bought it because I just liked it: I have several Sasienis, Family era and post-transition ones. This one, in excellent condition, should belong to the transitional era, when Alfred was in charge as Director after selling the firm.
I bought it for its real value: 130 euros, the original one-dot should sell for 10 times more.
I'm utterly satisfied, the pipe is just outstanding. Small overlapping of the MADE IN LONDON over SELECTED, but it happened sometimes, no issue with it.
My only doubt is: I'm aware of Specially Selected EIGHT DOT reissuing, not about this ONE dot model.
    Can somebody help?

    Thanks indeed!
    Manfred

Manfred, I'm curious, does that pipe have a stinger? Could I see the tenon? Also, what are the markings on the other side of the shank?

That pipe does nothing for me. The only thing I can say is......the seller owns a buffing wheel.

I should also say, I don't believe that is the genuine article.

No stinger, it could have hosted it. No clue. Pics as soon as possible. Attached the other side of the pipe.Attachment 53759
