I certainly am, Gus - an avid reader, for sure. For non-fiction I like histories of WW1 and WW2, but I read a lot of fiction too.

I'm currently re-reading my way through Patrick O'Brian's wonderful 20-volume series on the British navy at the time of the Napoleonic wars: "The Surgeon's Mate" is open at page 257.

My tastes are similar to Chris' above - currently re-reading all The Max Hastings WWII series.

For fiction, I like John LeCarré, Len Deighton and Terry Pratchett.

Yes, the authors I re-read every couple of years are: LeCarre, Deighton (spy novels), Patrick O'Brian, Hastings, and Anthony Beavor. Oh, and Lord of the Rings.

another avid reader here. As a child I would read encyclopaedias and later science fiction. I became a great fan of spy and crime thrillers, and love Eric Ambler, John Le Carre, just reread Deighton's SS GB, Fredrick Forsyth. Lately, I've been reading more history, including Alanbrookes War Diaries recommended by JimBo and now by myself, Niall Ferguson, and biographies. Also economics. Just finished a magnificent book called Plague Ports about the history of plague between 1894-1901 in 7 manor port cities. My research at work concerns the evolutionary history of bacteria diseases, so I also read a lot about historical diseases for work.

Nothing like reading and smoking a pipe! I used to read a book a week but I had to slow down because I'm trying to get back to school and I really need to study.

I recently just read The Knife of Never Letting Go.

I don't read much now but used to. Mostly travel/expedition whether by land, sea or air. Strangely enough it was the book 'Fat Man in Argentina' by the late Tom Vernon that brought me to this part of the world. He's got a lot to answer for.

I read everything I can governed only by the time I have to do it. Currently reading Daniel Silva's spy series starring Gabriel Allon.
